How does a Kendo Armor set work?
The armor set protects the wearer during Kendo practice and competition by absorbing and distributing the impact of bamboo sword (shinai) strikes to designated target areas. The head guard (men) shields the face, throat, and sides of the head. The chest shield (do) covers the torso. The gloves (kote) protect the hands, wrists, and forearms. The abdomen skirt (tare) guards the waist and upper thighs.
Each piece is worn over training clothing and secured with ties or straps. The included canvas carrying bag allows the practitioner to transport and store all components together.
