Product Overview

I have watched carefully over the years as the price of a pair of 18" Sai has steadily gone up. Not as much as gas, luckily! Sai are an integral part of training for many Okinawan and Japanese styles of martial arts, build your forearms and are just plain fun! They are heavier than you expect, and will last your lifetime.

These chrome sai are round and have a steel monouchi (the middle tine) with round steel tsuka(handle). Sold as a pair. Please recognize that sizing of the sai's may slightly vary. Length: 18".

What is a Chrome Round Sai - 18"?

This is a traditional Okinawan martial arts weapon consisting of a pointed metal baton with two curved side prongs, featuring a chrome finish, round steel construction throughout, and an 18-inch overall length. Sold as a pair.

What options are available with the product Chrome Round Sai - 18"?

This product is sold as a single configuration: an 18-inch chrome round sai pair with steel monouchi and round steel tsuka.

How does a Chrome Round Sai - 18" work?

The sai is gripped by the tsuka (handle) with the monouchi (center tine) extending along the forearm or projecting forward depending on the technique. The two curved side prongs, called yoku, serve to trap and control an opponent's weapon, block strikes, and assist in disarming maneuvers.

Practitioners rotate the sai in hand to switch between defensive positions with the monouchi along the forearm and offensive positions with it extended. The weight of the steel construction builds forearm strength and endurance during training drills and kata practice.

What benefits does a Chrome Round Sai - 18" provide?

  • Steel construction provides substantial weight that develops forearm strength and grip endurance over repeated training sessions.
  • Chrome finish resists corrosion and maintains appearance with minimal maintenance.
  • Round tsuka and monouchi allow smooth rotation in hand for transitioning between gripping positions.
  • Durable metal construction withstands years of regular practice without bending or breaking.
  • Sold as a matched pair, ready for traditional two-sai training methods used in Okinawan and Japanese martial arts styles.
